THE BACKSTORY:
"My brother-in-law told my wife that Olson was making a special run of James Taylor Signature guitars and thought it would be really cool to get me one for my 50th birthday. I called Jim Olson to inquire and he said they were unfortunately all already sold. However, there was this one guitar that he made for James that he used for a while, but then decided he wanted a different pickup in it, so he sent it back. It was sitting in Jim's shop so he said, "You know, maybe he would be willing to part with it." He called James and he agreed. There was just one catch ... there were some belt buckle scratches on the back. I told Jim, 'Well, somehow I have to learn to live with James Taylor's belt buckle scratches on the back of a James Taylor Signature Olson guitar.' "
